The virtue of courage is a prerequisite for all other
virtues, otherwise one is virtuous only when virtue cost.
Let’s talk about two of the largest gun myths that anti-gun people and groups
push, and pro-gun people and groups have refuted with facts. Remember, the-anti
gun culture uses fear, emotion and a scorched earth policy to push their
agenda, while pro-Constitution and pro-gun factions use reason, history and
facts.
But
first, I have to share this video that gave me chills. It is well worth the couple
of minutes it takes to watch, I suggest you watch it in full screen and then
share it with everyone.

Myth 1: More Guns Mean More Crime
In reality, an extensive 2004 report by the National Academy of Science was not
able to identify a single gun control regulation that actually reduces violent
crime, suicides or accidents, Beck said. The NAS panel reviewed 253 journal
articles, 99 books, 43 government publication and some
of its own empirical work on firearms.
One of the main pillars of the gun control argument is the claim that more gun
laws will make Americans safer. Because the facts do not support such a claim,
one would think the scales would be tipped in favor of gun rights.
A University of Pennsylvania study also determined that the 1994 assault
weapons ban did little to reduce violence while in effect.
Myth 2: Strict Gun Control Works in Other
Countries
Anti-gun advocates like CNN's Piers Morgan routinely claim strict gun control
has been very effective in other countries like Great Britain and Japan,
however, the numbers tell a slightly different story.
Beck pointed out that within a decade after England practically banned all
firearms in 1997, crime with handguns had doubled, armed street gangs caused
British police to start carry guns and the country still experienced a mass
shooting. Additionally, the homicide rate rose dramatically for seven years
after the ban ā€” from 1.1 per 100,000 to 1.8 per 100,000.
Australia also enacted strict restrictions on firearms ownership following a
mass shooting in 1996. The change in gun violence was so small that it was
"statistically irrelevant," Beck said.
On the other hand, Switzerland has the third highest gun ownership rate in the
world and a murder rate of 0.5 per 100,000. The country's murder rate is well
below Australia, the U.K. and Canada while its gun laws are less strict.
"More gun control doesn't mean less crime."
Good news in AZ, Arizona: Governor Brewer Signed Two Pro-Gun Reforms into Law
On Monday, Governor Jan Brewer (R) signed two NRA-supported reforms into law.
These new laws, effective ninety days after the General Assembly's adjournment,
will protect the privacy of gun owners and prohibit government-sponsored destruction
of seized or surrendered firearms.
House Bill 2326, sponsored by
state Representative Eddie Farnsworth (R-12), restricts the ability of any
political subdivision from requiring or retaining a record in any form, whether
permanent or temporary, of any identifying information of a person who owns, possesses, purchases, sells or transfers a firearm. In other
parts of the country, anti-gun media outlets have abused their privileges under
the Freedom of Information Act and have jeopardized the safety of law-abiding
citizens by publishing the names and addresses of registered gun owners.
Contrary to their claims, these media elites have not increased public safety
and have instead simply provided a roadmap for criminals to use for their next
burglary and firearm theft. HB 2326 will prevent this
from happening in Arizona.
House Bill 2455, sponsored by
state Representative Brenda Barton (R-6), requires any firearms forfeited to or
confiscated by a law enforcement agency to be sold to a Federal Firearms License
(FFL) holder in exchange for money, new equipment or
ammunition. As a result, previously owned firearms that are collected would
maintain their value and their sale to the public would help recover public
funds when budgets are strained.

Lastly I want to talk about Nullification: State Law
vs. Federal Law. (Jim emphasizing this by
bolding this important discussion. Get this, Gov. Scott.)
Southern states did not like the Northern States refusal to not follow Federal
Law in the return of their property IE Slaves via the Fugitive Slave Act. South
Carolina listed northern nullification of fugitive slave laws as its first
complaint when it explained its reasons for secession in an official
"declaration of causes."¯
An increasing hostility on the part of the
non-slaveholding States to the institution of slavery, has led to a disregard
of their obligations, and the laws of the General Government have ceased to
effect the objects of the Constitution. The States of Maine, New Hampshire,
Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New York, Pennsylvania,
Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Wisconsin and Iowa, have enacted laws which either
nullify the Acts of Congress or render useless any attempt to execute them.¯
The Massachusetts Act called for the removal of any state official who aided in
the return of runaway slaves and disbarment of attorneys assisting in fugitive
slave rendition. Another section authorized impeachment of state judges who
accepted federal commissioner positions authorizing them to prosecuted fugitive
slaves. Any person holding any judicial office under the constitution or laws
of this Commonwealth, who shall continue, for ten days after the passage of
this act, to hold the office of United States commissioner, or any office which
qualifies him to issue any warrant or other process under the [Fugitive Slave
Acts] shall be deemed to have violated good behavior, to have given reason for
the loss of public confidence, and furnished sufficient ground either for
impeachment or for removal by address.
Why
does this matter? Many states are refusing to implement Obamacare with the
Federal Government unable to implement, fund and manage half the country’s
Obamacare exchanges, causing even liberals in Congress to say the Affordable
Care Act as Obamacare is known as a train wreck to which the Bills sponsor
Baucus is retiring from Congress instead of trying to win election next cycle. The
2nd Amendment is in the same situation. Several states are pushing
legislation to preempt Federal gun bans or unconstitutional gun laws. Below is an example and the pushback from the US DOJ.
One
has to wonder that, while it is OK to violate federal law or state law for one
purpose, if a State or person who seeks to protect their rights pushes for
change, they are aggressively attacked and sued.
