Last week I wrote extensively about Joe Biden’s ongoing efforts to fuel the crisis along the southern border. If you missed last week’s newsletter, you can find it here. Check out the very first story.

The Biden administration announced last week it will end the Title 42 public health policy that was implemented under President Trump to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and has been used for the past two years to quickly expel illegal lawbreakers at the southern border. More than 10,000 pounds of deadly fentanyl were seized and over one million illegal aliens expelled at the southern border during Fiscal Year 2021, while Title 42 was in effect.

Joe Biden refuses to address the flow of fentanyl across our southern border and into our communities. In fact, his open border policies are exacerbating the crisis.

In response, this week I cosponsored H.R.7359 Stop Fentanyl Border Crossings Act, legislation that would allow the Title 42 public health order to be extended and used to protect the United States from fentanyl smuggling at the border. This bill will help address the public health crisis facilitated by drug traffickers and enable our enforcement authorities on the border to curtail the record-breaking flow of illegal border crossings.

Our motion-activated trail cameras document that more than 830 smugglers and illegal entrants have crossed the international boundary through our ranch between November 2020 and November 2021 (Biden’s election through November 2021). The motion-activated ranch cameras identified drug packers and/or others (no family units) crossing through our ranch filmed on just four of maybe 200 trails branching out from the unfinished Border Wall sections.

The 32-foot-high Border Wall made it across about five miles of our ranch international boundary with Mexico, but construction was abruptly halted January 20th this year by Presidential Order. The order meant the wall contractor terminated construction with one-half- a-mile of planned Wall on us uncompleted, more miles on our neighbor to the east, and numerous smaller as-yet unfinished water gaps for border crossers packing illegal drugs to enter freely. As a consequence, illegal drugs, wanted criminals, sex traffic workers, and previously convicted and deported individuals—folks who are clearly not eligible for asylum--cross through my ranch. The Border Wall contract was to close the open door between Nogales, Arizona and the Tohono O’odham Reservation to the west. The work to seal this heavily utilized route had been well under-way except for a six-mile gap, flood gates across dozens of washes, electric lighting, sensors and cameras, all of which had been already paid for by taxpayers, but installation was prohibited.
